But as COVID-19 cases have risen in many states in recent weeks, their policies are being changed. Apple, Best Buy, Costco and Starbucks have already been requiring customers at all stores to wear masks. As of Monday, CVS, Kohl’s, Lowe’s, Market Basket, Sam’s Club and Walmart also implement mask mandates.Later in the week, Shaw’s and Home Depot will join those businesses. Aldi and Target plan to make the change next week.Most will enforce policies differently and have exemptions including for young children and those with medical conditions.The New Hampshire Grocer’s Association also told News 9 that they will soon send out a memo to all 800 of their members requesting they too implement a mask requirement.“We’re seeing around the country, where there’s a surge happening again, it’s because they haven’t been wearing the mask,” President of the NH Grocer’s Association John Dumais said. “The important thing to remember is that the mask doesn’t protect you from wearing it. It protects everyone else in front of you.”The changes came less than a week after the National Retail Federation encouraged all retailers to adopt a nationwide customer mask policy. The organization said customers who refuse put employees and other customers at undue risk.The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said for months face coverings may slow the spread of COVID-19 and help people who may have the virus and do not know from infecting others.The organization said people should wash their hands before putting one one. Then, ensure it covers your nose and mouth, but fits comfortably and you can breathe easily.Gov. Sununu so far has resisted a statewide mask mandate for people in public. He has strongly encouraged people to wear them.
