Vertical Aerospace will launch an electric airplane soon. The shares rose in value
This week, the company — developer of electric aircraft Vertical Aerospace Ltd. (EVTL) received a positive boost of 178% to $8.07 at auction on July 21. The reason was the message about the imminent start of flight tests of its V4 tiltrotor. The development of Vertical Aerospace is a new generation of aircraft. It’s not just that the VX4 is a tiltrotor. It has front rotary engine nacelles allow you to take off in a helicopter and fly quickly in an airplane.
The tiltrotor scheme is not new, but the VX4 offers an unprecedented low cost of operation and simultaneous reliability. The tiltrotor has many electric motors with a total capacity of 1 MW, which eliminates the risk of disaster if one or two engines fail. At the same time, the electric power plant has simple maintenance and does not require the storage of large stocks of flammable aviation.
Allows you to store VX4 and quickly launch it from almost any site. Three modifications: passenger, cargo, and medical evacuation. According to the Flight Global media resource, Vertical Aerospace is preparing a VX4 prototype for the first flight, which is for the end of summer 2022. Of course, the first flight is just the beginning of an extensive test program, the results of which will almost certainly need improvements.
But if successful, EVTL quotes can receive a solid positive impulse. The VX4 unit can replace helicopters in many cases of urban and suburban transportation. Also, VX4 can close empty niches of the “jump” air transport, for example, for fast, cheap shore-to-ship delivery without the need for a ship to enter a port or the use of uncomfortable shuttle boats.
